What is Cloud Airtime?

Cloud Airtime is airtime that belongs to an account, not to a SIM card.

Most of us grew up with airtime that lives on a piece of plastic. Lose the SIM, change the phone or leave the country, and the airtime and the number are stuck where the plastic is. With Cloud Airtime, your South African number and your airtime sit in an account, the way your email does. You sign in to an app on your phone and they are there.

What that changes

  • Your number is not tied to one phone. Sign in on a second phone or a tablet and the same number rings there too.
  • Your number is not tied to one place. Wherever you have internet, on Wi-Fi or mobile data, at home or abroad, your number works.
  • You pay for the seconds you talk. Calls are billed by the second, and you can check the price to any country before you dial.
  • Airtime you top up does not expire.

You do not have to give anything up to use it. Your SIM card and your mobile network stay exactly as they are. Cloud Airtime sits beside them as a second line.

Who is behind it

Cloud Airtime is the calling service of Ukutel (Pty) Ltd, a small South African telecom based in Brackenfell, Cape Town. The company has been serving its members since 2013.

We cannot out-advertise the big networks, and we are not trying to. We would rather explain how the thing works, in plain words, and let you try it on your own phone. That is what this site is for. Every article here answers one question people really ask.

How to try it

The trial costs about $1.50 for five days, with real airtime, on your own phone. It is charged in South African rand: R25. You sign up, manage your account and top up at ukutel.com.

What this site will not do

  • It will not promise you an income. Where an article talks about earning, it gives amounts per team member and says plainly that it takes a team.
  • It will not name or attack another company.
  • It will not publish a price or a claim that is not true on the day it goes up.
